My open reply to a popular forwarded email

Just recently, I started the painstaking ritual of reading forwarded emails... one of which caught my attention. It was about putting back the gas prices to 30 PhP per liter by not patronizing the major gas companies.

Highly unlikely, with the price of crude oil at $127/barrel (42 gallons or ~159liters), that would be at 31.94 PhP/liter. The raw product would then be processed (increases the cost) to several constituents which would decrease the volume when the by-products are removed. Also, the addition of 12% tax would mean in around 3 to 4.5 PhP in total price per liter, depending on its market price.

The real problem is the OPEC that guzzle on fuel (by excessive use of SUVs) and put their expenses on the oil they export (similar to what Meralco does with its own administration costs). Another factor that may have contributed to the price increase in the world market is that they are afraid that oil may be replaced by renewable resources as main fuel (with the advent of hydrogen combustion and electric powered vehicles).

So, OPEC has hastened the replacement of fossil fuels as main source of energy by dramatically increasing the price of oil because necessity brings about innovations. (Think about it, our local scientists prioritized looking for alternatives for oil when the prices of it soared like a V-2 rocket).

Enlistment process

This is one of those times that I get to do something similar to a Russian roulette.

Things that I would remember

Last night, while I was taking pictures, my camera gave this report: Warning! Battery has been exhausted!

That's just great, I wasn't able to shoot pictures afterwards. That is why I'll always recharge it before bringing it outside the house.

Those few photos or so that I managed to take are shown below. From the left, Edrie, mom, dad and Michiko.
This is the refresher course, that my brother and I took pictures of. (I'm betting that he would post his version on http://alced.livejournal.com )
Family friends.I made the mistake of allowing the camera to focus on the tissue dispenser. (I should have switched to face priority auto focus)
My brother should have been included on the left side... too bad I don't own a wide angle lens accessory for Nikon P5100.

Alive and back online

I'm done bumming around this summer and now I'm going to update my blog every now and then.

There are things that I'm waiting for:
Bleach Movie 2: Diamond Dust Rebellion
Gundam 00 2nd Season
Ghost in the Shell 3 movie (not quite sure if there is going to be one)
1st sem of my second year in college (inevitable, might as well anticipate it)

(sigh!) Still a lot of days to go...

Making of an amateur photographer

Recently, I started using my Nikon P5100... It's quite decent but not as good as Canon digicams when it comes to low light conditions.
The current solution that I know of is activating the flash every time I take low light photo-shoots.

I've uploaded those photos to http://myraqmoonfall.multiply.com/photos

High School reunion?

Frankly, if one of my ex-classmates tells me to come to the reunion, I'd flatly decline.

(let X be classmate)
X: Myron, punta ka sa reunion natin this summer.
Me: You know what?
X: What?
Me: I don't care. There's no way that I'm coming back again.

Schools are supposed to make one a better person... that one made me a bitter person.

This has to be a bad dream...

I've been playing Urbandead for the past few days and the zombies seem to dominate the city. I constantly move my characters in order to avoid being eaten by those annoying zombies.
