Just recently, I started the painstaking ritual of reading forwarded emails... one of which caught my attention. It was about putting back the gas prices to 30 PhP per liter by not patronizing the major gas companies.
Highly unlikely, with the price of crude oil at $127/barrel (42 gallons or ~159liters), that would be at 31.94 PhP/liter. The raw product would then be processed (increases the cost) to several constituents which would decrease the volume when the by-products are removed. Also, the addition of 12% tax would mean in around 3 to 4.5 PhP in total price per liter, depending on its market price.
The real problem is the OPEC that guzzle on fuel (by excessive use of SUVs) and put their expenses on the oil they export (similar to what Meralco does with its own administration costs). Another factor that may have contributed to the price increase in the world market is that they are afraid that oil may be replaced by renewable resources as main fuel (with the advent of hydrogen combustion and electric powered vehicles).
So, OPEC has hastened the replacement of fossil fuels as main source of energy by dramatically increasing the price of oil because necessity brings about innovations. (Think about it, our local scientists prioritized looking for alternatives for oil when the prices of it soared like a V-2 rocket).

Enlistment process
This is one of those times that I get to do something similar to a Russian roulette.

Things that I would remember
Last night, while I was taking pictures, my camera gave this report: Warning! Battery has been exhausted!
That's just great, I wasn't able to shoot pictures afterwards. That is why I'll always recharge it before bringing it outside the house.
Those few photos or so that I managed to take are shown below.
From the left, Edrie, mom, dad and Michiko.
This is the refresher course, that my brother and I took pictures of. (I'm betting that he would post his version on http://alced.livejournal.com )
Family friends.
I made the mistake of allowing the camera to focus on the tissue dispenser. (I should have switched to face priority auto focus)
My brother should have been included on the left side... too bad I don't own a wide angle lens accessory for Nikon P5100.

Alive and back online
I'm done bumming around this summer and now I'm going to update my blog every now and then.
There are things that I'm waiting for:
Bleach Movie 2: Diamond Dust Rebellion
Gundam 00 2nd Season
Ghost in the Shell 3 movie (not quite sure if there is going to be one)
1st sem of my second year in college (inevitable, might as well anticipate it)
(sigh!) Still a lot of days to go...

Making of an amateur photographer
Recently, I started using my Nikon P5100... It's quite decent but not as good as Canon digicams when it comes to low light conditions.
The current solution that I know of is activating the flash every time I take low light photo-shoots.
I've uploaded those photos to http://myraqmoonfall.multiply.com/photos

High School reunion?
Frankly, if one of my ex-classmates tells me to come to the reunion, I'd flatly decline.
(let X be classmate)
X: Myron, punta ka sa reunion natin this summer.
Me: You know what?
X: What?
Me: I don't care. There's no way that I'm coming back again.
Schools are supposed to make one a better person... that one made me a bitter person.

This has to be a bad dream...
I've been playing Urbandead for the past few days and the zombies seem to dominate the city. I constantly move my characters in order to avoid being eaten by those annoying zombies.

Yeah!
Finally, grades are here. I can't believe I still managed to get a GWA of <1.75...
The only thing that bothered me was that I only have a 2.00 in Math 53. Crap, I knew I should have reviewed and practiced solving integrals... Instead of just pretending to review and sleeping during the Holy Week.
The fun part is that I have a grade of 1.50 in Chem 17! My grades really are a reflection of which is in priority (notice the GEs)... (Note: Physics wasn't in my priority list in 2nd sem... only Chem 17 was.)

Summer is here
Summer vacation is probably overrated... I am so damn bored with this summer vacation... Hearing others say, "Enjoy your summer," is simply similar to hearing, "Enjoy your meal of bitter gourd." Anyway, I can bum around and surf the net (may or may not include stalking people. Yes the previous statement was a joke.)
I can't even tell if I have satisfactory grades (ie. grades that will give me a college scholar standing again). I'm not afraid that I might have failed a subject... I'm afraid that I might pass all of them yet not get the college scholar standing.

Why did my mom even offer sharing our bandwidth with our cousins?
Great. Now my download speed is interrupted due to their excessive of our bandwidth by watching too much videos from youtube. I constantly have to shrug off the temptation of pulling the chord of the freeloaders. It annoys me so much!!! Even my dota gaming gets lag every once so often.
grr... Now I'm looking at their LAN chord and shrugging off the temptation of pulling it off our wireless router.

Now I no Longer Wonder...
My brother didn't want us to use his laptop... a few days ago I can't help but wonder why.
A few hours ago, my sister uninstalled a program, stating, "It uses up physical memory and slows down the computer!"
I rolled my eyes and said to myself, "Genius! Why don't you close the program, then? It wouldn't use up that much memory if it was inactive, would it?"
Of course, some might reason that it still uses up memory even if it
was inactive.
The thing is, I don't care. She just did it to install another of her programs that would demand a lot more physical memory. She even tells me to remove a lot of programs that I use so that her applications would operate with minimal errors. I still don't care, it was I who upgraded this pc. If her programs don't run here, then she might as well go to a computer center with dual-core pcs!
I really get annoyed when she acts as if she knows a lot about computers. I really should have removed her administrator priviledges.

The Nightmare before (during and after?) Valentine's
Days before Chem 17 exam...
A day before Valentine's...
I've done most of the tasks...
Prob set... check
Memorize chemical equilibrium equaions... check
Read poems... check
Memorize the lines of Lysander in Act I of A Midsummer Night's Dream... check
Well... there was something I wanted to post on the site of a former classmate... too bad that site has character limitations...

Thermopylae
The weekend before the midterm exam of Math 53...I never thought that I would be brought to a situation that gives me only two choices: Read or die.
(Now that sounds like some title of an Anime...)
There is also the case of the unknown anion analysis that gives me the shivers because I still have colds... how the heck am I going to smell the solution?
And there is also the never ending prob set of Chem 17 that restocks its questions every Monday and Thursday...
And finally, the Chem 17 second exam on 16th of February which covers around 4 chapters and 7 experiments.
I won't fall,
I'll give it my all,
I'll stand tall,
and sound the hero's call.
Whatever. I'll just do it like I always did... my style. Supress all my fears, supress all my doubts... supress all emotion.
Prepare for glory! (yes, a quote from 300)

Three Cheers for UP. Three cheers for students, staff and professors. Three cheers for me.
Today, Jan. 8, 2008, is UP's centinnial celebration. 100 years of excellence despite the lack of funding.During the celebration, I managed to have a date with my former chem 16 lab partner.
